Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar today called on the people to participate in the social and educational survey being conducted by the Backward Classes Commission to provide justice to the future generations.
Speaking to reporters at his Sadashivanagar residence, after flagging off the social and educational survey in the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) jurisdiction, he said, “The survey is starting in GBA areas today. The survey was conducted at my residence today and I have provided all the details. I appeal to all communities to participate in the survey and provide all the details.”
Asked about the need to simplify the survey questionnaire as it had too many questions, he said, “I also saw the questionnaire today, it needs simplification. Patience is low in urban areas.”
Asked about the questionnaire having many personal questions, he said, “The Court has ruled that these questions are not mandatory and no one can be forced to respond. Providing a response to some of these questions is optional. I have also told the interviewers to be sensitive to the needs of the interviewed in Bengaluru city especially.”
Asked about many people refusing to participate in the survey, he said, “It is our duty to educate them and we are doing it diligently.”
Replying to a complaint that there are server issues for the survey, he said, “The people concerned will fix it. There is a provision to participate in the survey online as well.”
Asked about CM’s statement that the state may move Supreme Court to fight injustice in the allocation of tax devolution, he said, “Our tax is our right. The state is losing about Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 crore and the Centre has to compensate us for that.”
