Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is engaged in dividing the Veerashaiva-Lingayat community and by inserting unnecessary provisions and creating conflicts between castes, he is trying to make personal gains, alleged former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking to the media in Bengaluru on Tuesday after a meeting of BJP leaders from the Veerashaiva-Lingayat community, he said there is a Census Act in the country and accordingly, the Central Government conducts the census. The State Government may conduct a survey, but doing door-to-door survey is against the Census Act.
Siddaramaiah earlier got the Kantharaj Report prepared and why he was not implementing it? The CM must tell the people the reason for not implementing the Kantharaj Report.
The former CM said the Constitution recognizes only six religions but in the caste survey, the State Government has included categories like ‘others’ and ‘atheists.’ ” Atheists have no religion. Why have they created columns such as Christian Brahmin and Christian Lingayat? In which part of the Constitution is it written that a separate column should be created for converts? While speaking about the Constitution, they are doing work that goes against it. We condemn this. Many Swamijis have pointed out that there are numerous flaws in the caste survey. The government must correct those errors,” he added.
The MP said Siddaramaiah is working to split the Veerashaiva-Lingayat community. However, the community people are alert and they will not fall prey to his political tricks. In 2018, the people already taught him a lesson. ” Do not attempt to divide our religion and community. Yet again he is repeating the same actions. Instead of uniting society and governing, he is breaking society apart to bake his political bread. I am confident that people will completely reject this’.
All must unite
He said all communities in Karnataka must stay united — Veerashaiva-Lingayat, Vokkaliga, Brahmin, SC/ST, and backward classes. At present, there is the Kaginele Peetha. In the coming days, Siddaramaiah will start a Kuruba Christian Peetha. ” Most likely, Siddaramaiah will even bring in a priest to preside. Where is he taking society? What is the need for this? The Central Government has already decided to conduct the census. The entire nation is undergoing a caste census”.
Misleading
Bommai said the State Government is, in a way, throwing dust into people’s eyes. They claim they will survey one and a half crore households in fifteen days. In each house, sixty questions are to be asked to every individual. How much time will that require? Is it possible to cover one and a half crore households in such a short period? Again, they will simply cut and paste from the Kantharaj Report. According to law, the Backward Classes Commission does not have the authority to conduct a census of all communities. They are carrying out this survey purely for political reasons. Even now, there is still a chance to correct this. CM Siddaramaiah must reform himself; otherwise, this will become the signal of his political downfall.
