Bengaluru: A crucial meeting of the Janata Dal (Secular) (JDS) was held to discuss key aspects such as the party’s biannual elections, ongoing membership drive, preparations for the upcoming Taluk and Zilla Panchayat elections, and strategies to be adopted in the upcoming legislative session.

The meeting, led by JDS National President H.D. Deve Gowda and Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, included extensive deliberations on these topics.

The membership drive is already underway across the state, and Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the State President of Yuva Janata Dal, shared his vision with leaders on taking it to the next level.

He emphasized the need to accelerate the membership drive, urging MLAs, former MLAs, senior leaders, second-line leaders, and party workers to participate actively in the enrollment campaign.

Responding to this, former PM Deve Gowda and Union Minister Kumaraswamy stressed the importance of taking membership registration seriously. “No leader should neglect the party organization,” they cautioned.

“I had visited every district and taluk when there were only 23 districts in the state. I built this party with great effort, and I am still traveling extensively. Building a party is not an easy task, and no one should take the organization lightly,” Deve Gowda firmly reminded the leaders.

“No One Should Lose Heart; Let’s Identify Strong Candidates”

“No one should feel discouraged. Let’s hold meetings at the district and taluk levels. Identify and shortlist capable candidates who can win in the Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections. Do not call me the National President—just call me a party worker. Call me whenever needed, and I will be there to fight alongside you,” the former PM declared.

“Waking Up Only During Elections is Useless: HD Kumaraswamy”

Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy asserted that waking up only when elections approach would be futile. “If we strengthen the organization and stay connected with the people over the years, we can put up a strong fight in elections. Otherwise, all our efforts will go in vain,” he said.

“Dreaming of becoming a leader is not enough. The foundation for leadership is a strong party organization. Strengthen the party at your polling booth, constituency, taluk, and district levels. The membership drive must be carried out aggressively, ensuring more participation from youth, farmers, and agricultural laborers,” Kumaraswamy urged.

JDS Legislature Party Leader Suresh Babu, B.M. Farooq, JDS State Women’s President Rashmi Ramegowda, former ministers Venkatarao Nada Gowda, Bandeppa Kashempur, H.K. Kumaraswamy, former MLAs Raja Venkappa Naik, Dr. K. Annadani, and K.A. Tippeswamy were present.
