Bengaluru, June 6: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has volunteered to resign to uphold the dignity of the party and the government.
Speaking to reporters at the KPCC office, he said, “The Home Minister and I had a discussion with Nagendra. He is not involved in the scam and hence there is no need to resign. However, he has offered to resign in order to uphold the dignity of the party and the government. He may resign today.”
Asked if the resignation would be accepted, he said the Chief Minister would take a decision after a discussion with the High Command.
Replying to a query on the Lok Sabha results, he said, “I am happy that the India alliance has a strong performance across the country. India bloc has decided to stay away from forming the government in spite of coming so close to the majority. The people of the country have voted for a strong opposition. The results have given a new lease of life to democracy in the country. The future course of action will be decided by the AICC President.”
Asked about the guarantee schemes, he said, “Congress party does not retreat from its commitment. We will implement the guarantee schemes when we come to power in the Centre.”
