Bijpur, (Chattisgarh), February 21: The Naxals operating in the forests of Dantewada in Chattisgarh on Sunday late night slit the throat of police head constable Pindiram Vetti and escaped under the cover of darkness.
According to reports reaching the state police headquarters in Raipur, this cowardly act of the Naxals has taken place under the jurisdiction of Bhairamgad police station limits.
“Pindiram Vetti was on leave and had come to his native place Kadenar village to take part in his brother’s wedding. He was taking rest in a neighbouring village. Naxals armed fire weapons and clubs barged into the house in which Vettiram was sleeping, slit his throat and escaped under the cover of darkness,” senior police officers told the media at Dantewada.
Pindiram was working in the Geedam police station near Gamalnar village, had recently been to Vishakapatnam for training.
The police are of the view that this act of splitting the throat of the police head constable was an act of revenge after the Anti Naxal Force (ANF) had launched a massive operation against Left Wing Extremism (LWE) recently. In that operation, scores of naxals had been killed in the encounter.
The police asserted that they have clues as to which dalam is involved in this act and are confident of arresting the culprits.
