Bengaluru, February 16: The BJP central leadership has pulled up state president Nalin Kumar Kateel for his “intemperate and irresponsible” remarks while speaking on Tipu Sultan recently.
“We have differences with the ideology and certain practices of Tipu Sultan. But we cannot afford to be intemperate and irresponsible in our talks against Tipu’s supporters. Your remarks are unacceptable,” a top leader has told Kateel over phone, according to sources in the BJP.
What the BJP central office maintains is that recently Union Home Minister Amit Shah also spoke against Tipu Sultan but it was matured and measured.

“Kateel’s statement that all Tipu’s supporters must be killed or shunted out is totally unacceptable, irresponsible and intemperate,” sources added.
BJP is worried that such intemperate language will blunt the party’s fight against the supporters of Tipu Sultan.
“We must be professional in our criticism. We need to be matured and measured in our condemnation,” a senior leader explained.
