Agartala, February 4: National BJP President J. P. Nadda did not mince words in his election speech at Agartala, capital of poll-bound Tripura state.
“The choice is very clear. If you want peace and progress, then choose BJP. If you want Red Terror (Naxal Violence), then choose others,” Nadda said, while addressing an election meeting at Amarpur constituency in Gomati district.

Nadda sought to remind the people of the Maoist violence that hit the Tripura state for more than a quarter century starting 1993.
“Till five years ago, Tripura saw state-sponsored violence, insurgency and unrest. During the last five years, Tripura has seen peace and development. Think over and make the choice wisely,” the BJP President added.
Nadda said Tripura’s face and fate has changed for the better as Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been continuously blessing the state.
Seeking to counter the influence of the newly-formed regional outfit, TIPRA Motha, Nadda said, “This outfit is not in power in Delhi. It won’t come to power in Tripura. What is the point in voting for this outfit? It is meaningless”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswas Sarma too batted for peace. “For the first time in the state, an atmosphere of peace has prevailed. Developmental activities have been taking place. It will be in Tripura’s interests, if the BJP retains power,” Sarma added.
The Left parties are making a determined bid to come back to power in the coming elections. It is making attempts to forge alliance with many small regional and caste-based outfits in order to defeat the BJP.
