Bangalore, January 22: Karnataka BJP has decided to revive two of its cells – NRI cell and Veterans cell – in order give impetus to its election campaign.
BJP sources told The Newz Peg that the NRI cell will mobilize overseas Indians, Friends of BJP, residing in different parts of the world and involve them in electioneering.
“It can be either Online campaign or come to Karnataka during the elections and campaign in their respective areas. The NRI cell will coordinate this task,” a senior leader said.
The BJP had roped several hundred NRIs in the 2018 Assembly elections. Hundreds of NRI had come from US, Canada, London, Gulf countries and Australia.
“These NRIs come on their own. We do not pay them. We may provide accomodation if they ask. We will provide them campaign materials and logistical support besides giving them the specific nature of work,” a leader explained.
The Veterans cell will fan out to the personnel working in the three Defence forces through their contacts and also approach those who are retired.
“We don’t call them Ex-Servicemen. We call them Veterans,” a leader said.
The BJP has planned the campaign among veterans in three ways. First is to approach the serving officers. The second will be to approach the retired officers. The third is to approach the retired JCOs (Junior Commissioned Officers) and NCOs (Non Commissioned Officers).
In order to coordinate the campaign by these two cells, a preliminary meeting will be convened shortly.
