Mysore, January 21: Opposition leader Siddaramaiah on Friday predicted an electoral alliance between BJP and JDS ‘in order to defeat Congress’ and harped on the mantra of unity among his party leaders and workers.
Addressing party workers at Mysore, Siddaramaiah said he lost in Chamundeshwari in 2018 because the BJP had fielded a weak candidate and transferred all its votes to JDS.
“Something similar will happen in old-Mysore region in 2023 elections also. I can an alliance between BJP and JDS coming up,” Siddaramaiah added.
According to Siddaramaiah, both BJP and JDS are weak without each other and hence need a synergy between the two to defeat Congress.

“JDS has some presence in seven to eight districts. That can fetch about 22 to 24 seats. BJP has hardly any presence in old-Mysore region. So, I see some sort of symbiotic relationship between BJP and JDS,” he explained.
Siddaramaiah emphasised that the Congress leaders and cadre must remain united and work hard in order to defeat BJP.
“People wants to defeat BJP. This is a totally incompetent government. We must bury our differences and work unitedly. People does not want BJP to win by default,” the Opposition leader said.

Launching a broadside against the JDS, Suddaramaiah said the JDS – Congress coalition government would have survived if H.D. Kumaraswamy had taken the senior partner, Congress into confidence.
“When the trouble started brewing within his party and with some MLAs, he should have cut-short his stay in US and returned to take control of the crisis. Instead, he was casual,” Siddaramaiah charged.
Suddaramaiah said he was confident of the Congress victory with a comfortable majority but unity and hard work among leaders and cadre are important.
