New Delhi, December 31; Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Manish Tiwari has questioned the decision of the Russian Embassy officials to cremate the bodies of two Russian nationals who died at a hotel in Rayagada town in Odisha recently.
“According to Russian Orthodox Christianity, the dead are buried and not cremated. Why is it that these two Russian nationals cremated much against the tradition of the Russian Orthodox Christianity,” Manish Tiwari questioned in his tweet.
Tiwari further questioned, “Burnt bodies tell no tales. Is it because to conceal something that the bodies were cremated and not buried”?.

“Burnt bodies tell no tales” is the famous quote of Hercule Poirot, a fictional character created by Agatha Christie, a very famous detective-novelist.
Manish Tiwari’s tweet drew sharp criticism from Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov. “Cremation is as customary in Russia as the burial. The lovers of Hercule Poirot should know this simple fact, Alipov tweeted.
The death of two Russian nationals- Pavel Antov and Vladimir Bidenov. While Antov fell off from the terrace of his hotel, Bidenov died due to excessive drinking, according to local Rayagada police.
These deaths have caused some concern because Pavel Antov, a billionaire business tycoon, is the bitterest critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the issue of Russia’s war with Ukraine.
