Mumbai Police issued prohibitory orders in Mumbai for 15 days

Mumbai, Oct 21: Mumbai Police has issued prohibitory orders under section 37 of the Maharashtra Police Act in Mumbai for 15 days from 1st November to 15th November.’
Section 144 will be imposed in Mumbai for 15 days from November 1 to November 15, a police order said. The step has been taken after considering inputs from various agencies that there can be disturbance in law-and-order situation in the city.
Section 144 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) restricts gathering of more than five people in public spaces. The prohibitory orders are issued under section 37 of the Maharashtra Police Act.
Apart from prohibiting the public gathering of more than five people, the order also states that their will be a ban on processions and bursting of firecrackers in the financial capital.
Use of loudspeakers and music bands in a procession will also not allowed in the city.
However, the city Police have exempted wedding ceremonies and funerals from the restrictions imposed under the order.
