Kochi, Oct 13: The Human sacrifice case of Kerala’s Pathanamthitta has taken a terrible turn, as Kochi police said that, the prime accused in the case cooked and ‘ate’ the private parts of one of the victims.
Explaining the horrible developments in the case DCP S Sasidharan said that, One of the accused Laila has told the police that main accused Muhammed Shafi had eaten cooked flesh of the private parts of the first victim, Rosly. DCP has also said that, they have not find any corroborative evidence or details to substantiate the statement.
Police have already arrested three accused in connection with the abduction and murder of two women. Prime accused is said to be Shafi (52), Laila (59) and her husband Bhagaval Singh (68). They were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the killings of Rosly (49) and Padmam (52). Victims who were lottery vendors went missing from June 6 and September 6 respectively.
The common connection between them and the accused was, they both visited Shafi’s restaurant very often.
The body parts of the victims were cut into pieces before being buried in two locations at Elanthoor, police revealed to the media, quoting the confession by the accused. One of the victim’s bodies was mutilated and cut into as many as 56 pieces while the other’s breasts were cut off. Both were strangled.
Since the bodies were chopped into pieces, police are probing the possibility of a cannibalism angle as well.
Shafi had earlier been arrested in 2020 for raping a 75-year-old woman — in similar fashion as in the recent cases, he had injured her private parts.
In the last 15 years, he had been involved in 10 criminal cases, police said. As per the reports Shafi lured Rosly to the Laila and Singh’s house in June by promising to pay Rs 10 lakh for acting in a pornographic video. She was tied down and her mouth was plastered. Laila allegedly thrust a knife into her private parts and beheaded her. Subsequently, Singh chopped off her breasts, cut the rest of the body and dumped it in a pit near the house.
The report also said that Shafi lured Padmam for sex work by promising her Rs 15,000. However, as Padmam got into a dispute over money, the accused smothered her. Shafi thrust a knife into her private parts and slit her throat. The three then chopped the body into 56 parts, and buried it near the house.
On Wednesday, Kochi magistrate court has all three accused to 14-day judicial custody.
