Bihar: Gangster turned politician Anand Singh walks out of jail; Dalit outfit moves to SC

Patna, Apr 27: Amid huge row over amendments to Bihar Jail Manual, gangster turned politician for member of parliament Anand Mohan Singh walked out of prison on Thursday morning early hours.
Initially, he was scheduled to be released at 7 AM and reportedly at the last moment the timings were changed to avoid the media’s presence at the jail.
Anand Singh went underground soon after the release. He and his son MLA Chetan Anand both have switched off their phones.
Dalit outfit files PIL in SC:

Questioning the legitimacy of the amendment Bhim Army’s Bharat Ekta Mission Bihar In-charge Amar Jyoti knocked the doors of Supreme Court.
Amar Jyoti, through his Public Interest Litigation (PIL), alleged that the Nitish Kumar government tweaked the state’s jail manual to “favour criminals”. The order of the Bihar government has drawn ire from the Dalit community.
What was the case?
Anand Singh was convicted for abetment of a Dalit IAS officer’s murder. G Krishnaiah was the district magistrate of Gopalganj in 1994.

Police had alleged that Anand Singh hatched the conspiracy to kill the IAS officer. This case led to the life imprisonment of Anand SIngh and 26 others. All the convicts have been released from the jail.
