Bengaluru, April 25: The Congress in Karnataka has objected to the Centre’s decision to name Sudan Rescue Operations after Kaveri.
“It is nothing but cheap politics being played by the BJP to name Sudan rescue operations as Kaveri. What has Kaveri got to do with Sudan. The BJP wants to electorally encash in the poll-bound Karnataka,” KPCC President D. K. Shivakumar said.
It may be noted that the Centre has launched a massive rescue operations to bring back stranded Indians in the strife-torn Sudan and has named the exercise as “Operation Kaveri”.

Congress spokesman Sanket Yenagi said that Kaveri has nothing to do with Sudan and it was only a political mischief of the BJP to derive electoral benefits.
“All these years, the BJP had no sympathy for the farmers who are dependent on river Kaveri. Today, suddenly the BJP has remembered Kaveri because of elections,” Sanket Yenagi added.
Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah slammed the Centre on two counts. One, the delay in launching the rescue operations and second, for playing petty politics by naming the rescue operations as Kaveri.

“The BJP is so desperate that it wants to garner votes by hook or crook. Let BJP defend and justify its decision to name the Sudan rescue operations as Kaveri. There is no logic; no rationality,” Siddaramaiah added.
BJP general secretary and MLC N. Ravi Kumar, however, defended the decision. “Congress is in a state of panic. It wants to create a controversy on a non-issue,” Ravi Kumar told The Newz Peg.
