Shikaripura, April 20: Shikaripura BJP candidate B.Y. Vijayendra on Thursday tore Congress party on the issue of Lingayath Chief Minister.

In a series of tweets, Vijayendra has asked the Congress as to why and how the Congress did not make a Lingayath as chief minister for the last 50 years.

“Except for Veerendra Patil for 10 months, there has been no Lingayath Chief Minister. That too, Veerendra Patil was ignominiously removed in November 1990. This is the shabby way you have treated the Lingayath community,” says Vijayendra’s tweet.

The upcoming BJP leader asserted that the BJP has always been fair to all the communities including the Lingayaths.

“Every community has received representation in accordance with its population and on the basis of numbers. BJP has never discriminated against any caste or community,” Vijayendra added.

He also took the Congress party to task for its attempt to divide the Lingayath community as Lingayath and Veerashaiva and got a beating from the people.

“You have committed a sin of dividing the society which is an unpardonable. You don’t have moral right to speak about the Lingayath community,” Vijayendra said in his tweet.
