Bengaluru, April 13: Stung and shocked by the unabated rebellion in the rank and file of the party in various parts of Bangalore, former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa has directed four leaders – R. Ashok, Subbanna, P. C. Mohan and D. V. Sadananda Gowda – to take charge and restore normalcy in the organisation.
Sources close to Yediyurappa told The Newz Peg that the party supremo called all the four leaders over phone and gave them tips to douse the flame of rebellion.
“Don’t be harsh. Be calm. We cannot afford to rub the workers on the wrong side. Persuade them gently to give up their rebellion. Make them realise the larger interest of the state and the country. Bring them on board,” Yediyurappa told these four leaders.
Hundreds of BJP workers in different parts of Bangalore city are up in arms against the party leadership on the issue of ticket distribution.
Former Mayor Katte Sathyanarayana, former Corporators N. R. Ramesh and Shivanahally Manjunath have threatened to resign from the primary membership of the party.
Both Ramesh and Sathyanarayana have announced that they will contest as rebels.
“I have been waiting for my opportunity for the last three terms. What is the logic in giving ticket to those who have completed three terms. What about the workers like me who have been working for the last four decades. Enough is enough. I will contest as rebel no matter what the consequences are,” Katte Sathyanarayana told The Newz Peg.
Thousands of workers – supporters of Ramesh – have resigned from the primary membership of the party.
It remains to be seen if these four big guns will be able to convince and persuade the workers.
