Bengaluru, April 12: It is not only on the Hassan Assembly seat but also on the outcome of the May 10 elections, H. D. Kumaraswamy and his brother H. D. Revanna speak in different voices.

While Kumaraswamy says that the JDS will come to power on its own by getting 123 seats – a simple majority – Revanna, however, differs by saying that “no party will be able to form the government without the support of the JDS”

Obviously, Kumaraswamy is upset with this statement. “We maintain that we will come to power on our own and form a farmer’s government. Here Revanna says neither the BJP nor the Congress can form the government with JDS support. This is diametrically opposite from what we have been saying,” Kumaraswamy has told his close confidants.

JDS sources told The Newz Peg that Kumaraswamy has requested his father H. D. Deve Gowda to prevail upon Revanna not to make “off the cuff” and “off-tangent” remarks to the media either on Hassan seat or on the outcome of the elections.

“We need to speak in one voice. Our stance is that we will come to power with a simple majority. We must stick to this,” Kumaraswamy is believed to have told his father. The former chief minister maintains that this is not a mere statement but his firm conviction that his party will come to power. “There is a lot of anger and resentment among the people towards both the national parties”, Kumaraswamy says.

Meanwhile, Revanna has said that the decision about Hassan seat has been left to “Dodda Gowdru” and he will abide by his decision. “I still maintain that Bhavani should be given ticket in Hassan as she has a fair chance of victory. But I will go by the decision taken by our party leader Dodda Gowdru,” Revanna said.

Bhavani Revanna, on her part, is holding meetings with her supporters and admirers in different parts of Hassan Assembly constituency “as a sort of warm up” just in case “DoddaGowdru” decides the candidature in her favour in the last minute.

Kumaraswamy, however, is firm on giving to Swarup, an ordinary worker of the party from Hassan town.
