Mumbai, April 11: Senior political leader and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar has effectively punctured the AAP’s campaign of calumny on the issue of Prime Minister’s degree.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s degree is a non-issue. There are many other burning issues about which we need to concentrate. Those issues are important,” Pawar said, in a statement.
Thus the attempt of the AAP and some opposition parties to pillory Modi on the issue of holding a Degree is effectively punctured, once and for all.
“What is my degree? What is his degree? What is her degree? Is this important? There are many more issues such as unemployment, inflation, farmers, law and order, secularism being under threat, etc, etc. We need to concentrate on these issues as these are real issues. Holding a degree or not is a non-issue,” Pawar said, while speaking to reporters during an informal chat on the sidelines of a programme.
It may be recalled that Pawar had distanced himself from the insidious remarks of Rahul Gandhi on Veer Savarkar. The NCP supremo had also decried the Oppostion’s demand for Joint Parliamentary Probe (JPC) over Adani – Hindenburg research report.
Meanwhile, NCP state President Jayanth Patil said there is no reason to say that Narendra Modi became Prime Minister because he has a degree.
“Narendra Modi was not made the PM because of his degree. But once he says that this is my degree, the issue will die down. In a democracy, it is natural for the discussions to take place over any issue and different opinions are also expressed. So, until the Prime Minister makes any comment on his degree and tells the truth to the people, then no one can stop the people from airing their different views,” Jayanth Patil added.
It may be recalled that of late, AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been saying that India is such huge and diversified country it can be ruled by a person holding a Degree. The BJP, however, has dismissed Kejriwal’s comments as irrelevant.
“We dismiss his (Kejriwal’s) remarks with the utter contempt it deserves,” BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia has said.
