Mysore, April 7: Former Chief Minister and JDS President H. D. Kumaraswamy on Thursday dropped a bomb-shell by saying that the BJP and Congress have entered into a pact at Varuna constituency in order to help Siddaramaiah.
Addressing a gathering at Pancharatna Yatra near Periyapatna, Kumaraswamy said he has definite information that the BJP will field a weak candidate against Siddaramaiah in Varuna to ensure his victory. “However, the JDS will field a strong candidate in order to defeat both Siddaramaiah and BJP,” the former Chief Minister added.
Stoutly denying the Congress allegation that the JDS have understanding with the BJP, Kumaraswamy said both BJP and Congress are past-masters in the art of entering into a secret deal. “The JDS was bold enough to join hands with both Congress and BJP in the past. We do not believe in secret pacts,” the JDS President added.

Kumaraswamy also criticized the BJP for roping in cine actors like Sudeep to campaign in the elections. “Has the BJP realized that Modi and Amit Shah cannot bring votes? I will see what these stars will do in the elections. I have already said that star value will not translate into votes,” he said.
He claimed that his party’s Pancharatna yatra has received overwhelming response from the people and it was for sure that his party will come to power with a simple majority. “It is going to be a farmers’ government in the real and true sense of the word,” Kumaraswamy asserted and added, “My father’s contribution to the cause of farmers and irrigation is phenomenal. This will hold the party in good stead. People are fed up of the two national parties, the Congress and BJP”
Kumaraswamy clarified that no one from the family will contest from Hassan as the party will choose an ordinary worker from the grass-root level to fight the elections. “Anitha will not contest the elections. She has retired from electoral politics. Instead, she will work for the party and campaign throughout the state,” he said.
