Telangana, April.5 : Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Telangana, the BJP’s state chief MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar was detained on Tuesday night from his residence in Karimnagar.
He has been shifted to the Bommala Ramaram police station in Yadadri Bhongir district.
Sanjay Kumar shared the visuals of the scuffle and tweeted,”Fear is real in BRS.! First they stop me from conducting press meet & now arrest me late in night. My only mistake is to Question BRS govt on its wrong doings. Do not stop questioning BRS even if I am jailed. Jai Sri Ram ! Bharat Mata ki Jai ! Jai Telangana !”
Responding to Bandi’s arrest, BJP leader Amit Malviya alleged that the Telangana BJP chief was arrested by the KCR government on fabricated charges.
“In a midnight operation, Telangana police has arrested BJP state President Bandi Sanjay Kumar on fabricated charges of being involved in secondary school paper leak. This won’t end well for KCR,” Malviya tweeted.
PM Modi is scheduled to visit Telangana on April 8 to inaugurate Vande Bharat Express from Secunderabad to Tirupati along with launching various other developmental projects.
On the other hand, BJP state general secretary Premender Reddy said that the party is planning to hold a statewide protest against the ‘illegal’ arrest of Bandi Sanjay Kumar.
“BJP state president Bandi Sanjay was detained by police past midnight. He has been held from his residence in Karimnagar illegally. They should have initiated any legal process in the morning, where would Bandi Sanjay go? This is nothing but to disturb PM Modi’s programme in Telangana,” Times Now quoted him as saying.
“What was the need for this action against a Member of Parliament at midnight? What are the crime and case? They are not telling us anything. He is being taken to Bhongir. Why is he being taken there?” Reddy further said.
Meanwhile, BJP State General Secretary Bangaru Shruthi has moved a Habeas Corpus petition in High Court over the detention of state BJP president and MP Bandi Sanjay, Rachna Reddy, HC advocate and BJP spokesperson, said.
