Kolar, April 1 : Thousands of Congress workers on Saturday urged former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to contest from Kolar.
In a meeting convened to discuss the preparations for “Satyameva Jayathe” rally to be addressed by Rahul Gandhi on April 9, thousands of Congress workers shouted slogans hailing Siddaramaiah as future Chief Minister and insisted that he contest from Kolar.
“We want you to give us a promise that you will contest from Kolar. We will see that you win the election with a huge majority,” workers told Siddaramaiah in high-sounding slogans.

Scores of workers climbed on to the stage where top leaders including AICC general secretary Randip Singh Surjewala was also present.
Siddaramaiah had a tough time controlling the zealoys crowd and convincing them of the party stance. At one point in time, the former Chief Minister was seen wiping the sweat seceral times.
In his address, Siddaramaiah said he was a loyal soldier of the party and he has to obey the orders of the high command.

“I am willing to contest from Kolar. But ultimately it is for the party to decide. So, be calm and let’s listen and obey the diktat of the party,” Siddaramaiah added.
He appealed to the workers to make Rahul Gandhi’s rally historic. “We have to give a fitting reply to the BJP which is destroying all democratic institutions and misusing the government agencies,” the leader of the Opposition added.
