Bengaluru, March 31: The Congress party has accused the BJP government at the Centre of unleashing 300 IT officers on Congress candidates.

Speaking to reporters here, KPCC spokesman N. Lakshman and Media wing Vice President Ramesh Babu said these IT officers are constantly following and watching as many as 150 strong Congress candidates.

“Ever since the model code of conduct came into force the Union government has been behind the Congress candidates. Our leader Siddaramaiah was asked scores of questions about holding a meeting in his constituency. This is unacceptable,” Lakshman added.

Ramesh Babu further added that the state government officers who have been posted in various districts are having soft corner towards the BJP.

“Hunsur MLA has been shouting from the roof top that Rs 5 crores has come to his constituency but nobody is taking cognizance of it,” Lakshman said.

Ramesh Babu said his party will lodge a formal complaint with the Election Commission in a day or two.

“We strongly suspect that there is likely to be IT raids and ED enquiries of several scores of Congress candidates in the next coming days. We will inform the Election Commission about our suspicion of IT raids,” Ramesh Babu added.
