Udupi, March 12: The Karnataka BJP is in news for wrong reasons for the third time in a fortnight.
After Madal Virupakshappa and Kolar MP S. Muniswamy, it is now the turn of BJP OBC Morcha national General secretary to be in news for wrong reasons.
Yashpal Suvarna is accused of abetting the manager of a cooperative bank to commit suicide. Subbanna, manager of Mahalakshmi Cooperative Bank, Udupi, committed suicide at Malpa on Saturday and named Yashpal Suvarna as being responsible for his suicide.
Incidentally, Yashpal Suvarna is the President of the same Mahalakshmi Cooperative Bank where Subbanna was the manager.
In his death note, Subbanna alleged that Suvarna forced him to recover the loan from one Riyaz. “Inspite of my repeated efforts, I was not able to recover the loan. I needed some more time but Suvarna mounted pressure on me. Without any alternative, I am forced to end my life,” Subbanna’s death note stated.
According to the police, Subbanna checked into Rajmahal Lodge at Malpe on Thursday evening. He hung himself to death.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death and have initiated the probe.
This is not the first time that Yashpal Suvarna has courted controversy. At the time of heated debate on Hijab issue, Yashpal Suvarna had described the protesting girls as “members of a terrorist organisation”
