Tripura, Mar 11: A parliamentary team comprising Congress and CPI(M) leaders were allegedly attacked at Nehalchandra Nagar Bazar in Bisalgarh on Friday evening.
The team was on a two-day visit to probe the after-election violence that caused chaos in Tripura. After the attack team was forced to suspend its outdoor programmes.
Calling it a “gruesome attack”, CPI(M) Calling it a “gruesome attack”, CPI(M alleged that some people backed by BJP attacked them and damaged their vehicles.

It is also reported that BJP workers obstructed the visiting parliamentary team at Mohanpur in western Tripura.
In its official statement CPI(M) party said, “the MPs and the accompanying Congress and CPI(M) leaders quickly left from the place and escaped the major attack.”
“The accompanying police escort team responded quickly and rescued the delegation safely. Senior officers were at the spot. No injury to any person has been reported. Damage to 2-3 vehicles has been reported. One suspect has been detained. Raids are on to identify and arrest other miscreants,” the police said.

Condemning the incident Congress leader Jairam Ramesh tweeted that the delegation of Congress leaders was attacked by BJP goons. Police accompanying the delegation did nothing. And tomorrow BJP is having a victory rally there. Victory of party-sponsored violence.
