Bengaluru, March 9: At about 2.45 AM in the intervening night of Tuesday -Wednesday, state BJP President Nalin Kateel was rudely awakened by a telephone call.
The caller at the other end asked Kateel, “What is this nonsense happening in Karnataka. Our MLA accused of corruption was taken out in a procession? Discipline him. Ask him to stop this nonsense”.
The caller was none other than Bhupendra Yadav, Union Minister and right hand man of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Kateel was jolted out of his sleep. He immediately called B. L. Santosh, Nirmal Surana and Ravi Kumar. Later in the day, the state leaders called Madal Virupakshappa and scolded him for organizing the procession in his home town after getting bail.
Kateel, who left on his tour, gave rather a bland statement saying that “it was not correct for Madal Virupakshappa to have organised that procession”

This incident only highlights the harsh fact that the state leadership is neither thoughtful, nor sensible, nor sensitive nor possess capability to respond cogently to a particular crisis.
“Absolutely, there is no situational brilliance on the part of state leadership. On the other hand, the Central leadership is ever alert and is capable of handling any situation,” a senior leader in the state admitted.

The state BJP leadership is in a dilemma as to how to handle this Madal Virupakshappa issue. Already, the Congress has hit out at BJP for celebrating corruption and not taking action against the errant MLA.
BJP sources told The Newz Peg that a decision will be taken in a day or two after today’s questioning by the Lok Ayukta.
