New Delhi, March 5: The Vishwa Samvad Kendra (VSK), intellectual wing of the RSS, has opposed to extending reservational benefits to dalits who embrace Islam and Christianity. The VSK will shortly submit its objection in writing to Justice K. G. Balakrishnan Commission.
According to the RSS, dalits have been given reservational benefits on account of the pernicious practice of untouchability that has been in vogue in Hindu society since time immemorial.
“It sounds logical to provide reservational benefits to dalits who are part of the Hindu society where unfortunately untouchability is practiced. But is illogical and meaningless to extend that reservational benefts if they convert to Islam or embrace Christianity where there is no untouchability,” an office bearer of the VKS told The Newz Peg.
The RSS is of the view that it is the conspiracy of the global anti-Hindu forces to mount pressure on dalits to demand reservational benefit even after getting converted to Islam and Christianity.
In October 2022, the Centre constituted Justice K. G. Balakrishnan Commission to look into the issue of several communities demanding Scheduled Caste status. This included dalits who had got converted to Islam and Chritianity.

Even as the Justice Balakrishan Commission is amidst collecting opinions and views from various organisations across the country, the VSK, in collaboration with Gautam Buddha university, has organized a three-day conclave at Greater Noida to discuss this vital subject. Experts will submit their papers which will be discussed spread across six sessions.
Sanjay Paswan, BJP leader from Bihar, has categorically said, “We should make it clear through this conclave that under no circumstances are we in favour of providing reservation for dalit Christians and dalit Muslims.”
Alok Kumar, senior Supreme Court advocate and working President of the VSK, said the history of reservation had shown that the SC status is related to the practice of untouchability which was, unfortunately, a disturbing feature of the Hindu society.
“Islamand Christianity have asserted their communities are casteless and there is no untouchability. In this background, it is meaningless and illogical to extend reservational benefits to converted Christians and converted Muslims,” he added.
