Bengaluru, March 2: The BJP’s Central Leadership has directed its Karnataka unit to blast Tipu’s supporters but not to criticize Muslims and not to bring Savarkar in the election campaign.
A senior BJP leader told The Newz Peg that the Central Leadership wants the state leaders not to speak negative of the Muslims during their frontal attack of Tipu Sultan.
“Today’s Muslims have nothing to do with yesterday’s Tipu. We need to be matured enough to differentiate and bifurcated between the two. Attacking Muslims while condemning Tipu is wrong and meaningless,” a leader said.
The BJP’s Central Leadership is of the firm view that attacking Muslims will go against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call sabka saath, sabka vishwas.
“Modi ji has assiduously built an inclusive narrative and our local leaders should not do anything that damages this narrative,” sources explained.
The BJP has also decided not to make Savarkar an election issue along with Tipu Sultan as the two personalities are poles apart in all respects.
“Savarkar was a giant. He can be compared only to himself. We will be doing a great disservice if we bring down Savarkar to the low level of Tipu Sultan,” a leader said.
According to BJP, Tipu was a religious bigot, communal fellow, known to have killed thousands of Hindus and converted Hindus to Islam at the point of sword.
“How can this fanatic be compared with Savarkar who was an unalloyed nationalist, die-hard patriot and a fearless fighter. Savarkar was the limit of human endurance. There is no comparison whatsoever. So we have decided not to bring Savarkar to the election arena” a leader explained.
