Bengaluru, March 2: In one of the biggest catch ever since it was revived the Lok Ayukta caught red-handed Prashanth, Chief Accountant of BWSSB and seized Rs 40 lakhs cash from his private office on Crescent Road here on Thursday.
Prashanth is the son of Madal Virupakshappa, BJP MLA and Chairman of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd.
Lok Ayukta sleuths said that Prashanth had placed a demand of Rs 80 lakhs for finalizing a tender to supply raw materials. He was caught red handed when a portion of the amount – Rs 40 lakhs – was handed over to him in his private office.

The premises where the raid took place is the private office of Prashanth on Crescent Road. “We conducted the raid acting on a tip off,” a senior Officer said.

According to Lok Ayukta sleuths, they had some general and vague information about the possibility of huge amount changing hands but were not sure about the place and the consideration.

“We kept a watch, very closely. When we were sure and convinced that the money is going to be delivered, we am swooped on the alleged culprit. We also had information about the procurement of raw materials. It was an Operation, neat, tidy, meticulous and fool-proof,” sources disclosed.
