Bengaluru/Kolar, February 23: Thousands of train passengers suffered delay of over five hours between Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Majestic station and Bangarpet station ad the wires of the overhead electric equipment snapped in Kolar on Wednesday afternoon when a train was passing.

In order to maintain continuity of service, the South Western Railway replaced electric locos with diesel locos for all express and superfast trains.
In all, 15 train services were cancelled and as a result, buses plying towards Bangarpet were overcrowded.
The overhead electric wires snapped between Malur and Tyakal stations in Kolar district around 2.45 PM when Bengaluru – Marikuppam passenger train was passing.

Thousands of people travel between Bangarpet and Bengaluru by train. They were all stranded enroute. As the authorities failed to put out a message on social media sites about the disruption in services, thousands of passengers were clueless.
Additional Divisional Railway Manager Kusuma Hariprasad told the media that 15 trains were cancelled.
“However, the trains were run with the help of diesel locomotives. The Over Head Electric wire restoration work is under progress,” the Railway authorities added.
