Bengaluru, February 11: The family and friends of Vijay Kumar, the lone Indian who has gone missing in Turkey, hope that he may have survived the devastating earth quake.
“We received information from the authorities that they have found the ID, baggage and some personal belongings of Vijay Kumar in the rubble of Hotel Avsar at Malatya in Turkey, Ramesh Siddappa, Managing Director of Oxyplants company said.

Vijay Kumar, aged 36, is working as a technician in Oxyplants company and was posted at Malatya plant in Turkey.
Indian Embassy officials in Ankara told Ramesh Siddappa that the rescue authorities found the ID and baggage but could not find Vijay Kumar.
“According to eye witnesses, Vijay Kumar left the Hotel before the earthquake hit the country. That means he has survived the quake. Now the authorities are searching for him in the hospitals” Ramesh Siddappa told the family.

The Hotel Avsar in which Vijay Kumar stayed collapsed and was reduced to rubbles.
Vijay Kumar, who hails from Dehradun, voluntarily opted to go to Turkey, even though an another technician was posted to commission an acetylene gas plant.
The company is in touch with the Indian Embassy officials in Ankara and is also keeping the family informed.

Vijay Kumar’s elder brother Arun Kumar said the family is also in touch with the officials in the Ministry of External Affairs.
