Moscow, February 10: In a significant stance that demonstrates India’s commitment to world peace, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on Thursday declared that the ‘people of Afghanistan were among India’s foremost priorities’

Highlighting India’s historical and special relationship with Afghanistan, Doval said that the well-being and humanitarian needs of the people of Afghanistan would continue to guide India’s policy towards Kabul.

“All that India needs is an inclusive and representative government in Afghanistan. We will never abandon the people of Afganistan,” Doval added.

The India’s NSA addressed the fifth regional dialogue on Afghanistan being held in Moscow.

On his part Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow was in regular and constant contact with the Taliban rulers in Kabul.

“Large economic projects are underway in Afghanistan that could stabilise the situation in the country,” Putin added.

Doval emphasized that Afghan territory should not be used for terrorism and that the natural resources of Afghanistan should be utilized ‘first for the welfare of Afghanistan’

The NSA mentioned that India has allocated Rs 200 crores in the budget for the development and humanitarian needs of the people of Afghanistan.

The meeting was attended by Doval’s counterparts from Iran, Kazhakasthan, Kyrgystan, China, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

It may be recalled that the third round of the dialogue had been held in Delhi under the Chairmanship of Doval in November 2021.
