Srinagar, January 31: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval cannot understand the pain inflicted by violence, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Monday.
Speaking the rally here to mark the culmination of 4000-Kms Kanyakumari – Kashmir Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi said Rahul Gandhi recalled the sacrifices made by his grandmother Indira Gandhi and his father Rajiv Gandhi for the cause of peace, nonviolence, unity and integrity.
“Those who stoke violence won’t understand the pain it inflicts, not those who have not suffered. Modi, Amit Shah and Ajit Doval can’t understand the pain inflicted by violence but I can relate to the families of Pulwama attack victims, with hundreds of Kashmiri families and of the security forces,” Rahul Gandhi added.
He said one of the goals of his yatra is to put an end to violence.
“The fundamental objective of my yatra was to save liberal and secular ethos of the country,” Rahul Gandhi said and added, “nafrath keh baazaar mey mohabbath ki dukaan kholneki koshish ki hai” (I have attempted to open a shop of love in a market of hatred)
The Congress leader thanked the people of Jammu and Kashmir for giving him a warm welcome and showering love and affection.
“I was warned that I would be attacked. But I didn’t care. I walked in Kashmir for four days. Nothing happened to me,” he added.
Rahul Gandhi reiterated that his yatra was not for his party, Congress but for the country. “No BJP leader can walk like me in Kashmir valley. I have walked because I don’t spew venom. Those who trigger violence fear to walk,” Rahul Gandhi said.
Apart from Congress leaders, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah of the National Conference, Mehbooba Mufti of PDP, D. Raja of CPI, Premachandran of RSP and leaders from DMK, JMM, BSP, VCK and IUML took part in the rally.
