Bengaluru, January 28: Out of 391 announcements made in the 2022-23 budget, only 207 programmes have been implemented, according to a study conducted by the Chief Minister’s Office.
Obviously, Bommai is not impressed by the progress made in the actual implementation of the programmes. He is scheduled to present the budget on February 17 for the year 2023-24.
According to sources in the Department of Finance, apart from 207 programmes being implemented, Government Orders (GO) has been issued to another 132 programmes.

“But the question is when will these 132 programmes be implemented. There is hardly two months left for the closure of the current financial year. The budget for the coming financial year will be presented in February,” says the officials.
The tardy progress in budgetary implementation is due to the laxity on the part of the officials. But it is also being said that like B.S. Yediyurappa, the present Chief Minister is not a strict task master who influences the course of events.

“The key officers in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) ought to have men with fertile imagination, tough administrative acumen, meticulous to monitor the developments on day-to-day basis and with long-range vision.
The figures cited in the study report are regarding the works till the end of the third quarter.
“In this background, the Chief Minister has ordered an another study to be conducted in a few days. He has convened a meeting to discuss the issue,” a senior official added.
