New Delhi, Jan 19: In a shocking incident Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has arrested a man for allegedly leaking sensitive information related to the finance ministry to foreign countries.
The accused identified as Sumit, was a contractual employee and worked as a data entry operator in the finance ministry, they said.
A senior police officer said the accused provided classified data to foreign countries in lieu of money.
“He has been arrested under the Official Secrets Act. During his search, a mobile phone which was being used by him for sharing secret information related to the Ministry of Finance was seized,” he said.

Delhi police neither confirmed this officially nor shared details about the nature of documents that the accused sent over WhatsApp.
In November last year, the crime branch arrested a contractual driver working for the ministry of external affairs on charges of spying. The man was lured by a Pakistan-based handler, who posed as a woman and befriended him on social media.
