Kharge invites 21 Opposition parties to join Bharat Jodo Yatra

New Delhi, January 12: In an yet another attempt to form a grand alliance against the BJP, Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge has written leaders of 21 Opposition parties to join the culmination rally of the Bharat Jodo Yatra at Srinagar.
In an identical but separate letters to leaders of 21 Opposition parties, Kharge said right from the beginning of the Yatra, the Congress had been inviting MPs and leaders to join the Yatra in different states.

“Now, I invite you to be part of the rally to be held at Srinagar as culmination of the Bharat Jodo Yatra. The rally is to be held on January 30,” the letter stated.
Kharge’s letter further stated that the Opposition’s voice has been suppressed in parliament and the media.
“In this background, the Yatra has connected directly with lakhs of people throughout the country. Let us lend our voice in this movement,” Kharge added.

Bharat Jodo Yatra undertaken by Rahul Gandhi commenced at Kanyakumari on September 7. It crisscrossed the country and is scheduled to culminate at Srinagar on January 30.
So far the Yatra has covered the states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh covering a distance of over 3300 Kms.
“The Yatris have been walking almost 20 to 25 Kms everyday through cold, heat and rain and have carried the message of the yatra to lakhs of people,” Kharge has stated.
