Bangalore, Dec 20: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Lahar Singh Siroya on Tuesday said that he will discuss with several union ministers about the plight of toy factory owners, road side eateries and toy shops who are affected by the coming up of the Bangalore-Mysore Express.
Speaking with The Newz Peg from Delhi over phone, Siroya said he welcomed the infrastructural development but not at the cost of the livelihood of the small entrepreneurs.
“Hundreds of roadside eateries and toy shops are not getting customers due to the Express Way that runs between Bangalore and Mysore. Earlier, the vehicle owners used to stop their cars and do some shopping. Now all these are stopped as the Express Way does not have any scope for stopping the vehicles on the route,” Lehar Singh Siroya said.
Siroya said he has written to Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on this issue and has also sought an appointment to personally apprise him of the problem. “I will also call on Narayana Rane, Union Minister for Medium and Small Industries. These toy factories come under his Ministry,” he added.
According to Siroya, these toy factory owners and shops as well as roadside eateries have obtained loan from the local banks under varous schemes of the Government of India but their business is under threat due to infrastructural development. “I am not against infrastructural development including roads and highways but it has to be designed in such a way that it should not affect the daily livelihood of the small entrepreneurs,” he said.
Lahar Singh Siroya said he will also approach former Chief Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy, Mandya MP Sumalatha, Bangalore Rural MP D.K. Suresh as the entire area come under their various jurisdictions in order to find out a solution to this problem.
