Bengaluru, Nov 28: The Karnataka government has decided to harass poor and middle-class motorists on Bengaluru roads by imposing inhuman rules on them. It has decided to stop issuing important documents to motorists unless they pay the fine that has been pending. The Aam Aadmi Party opposes this arm-twisting tactic of the government.
In a statement to the press, Jagadish V Sadam, State Media Coordinator, AAP said, “The Karnataka State government’s decision to not issue insurance renewal policy, road tax payment receipt and vehicle fitness certificate to motorists who are unable to pay hefty fines put on them is unfair. The government is not bothered about improving the deteriorating condition of the roads but is interested in coming with rules to fleece the motorists. Most motorists in Bengaluru have a fine due ranging from 2000 to 40000 Rs. Of them, most belong to middle- and lower-income group and they will be severely affected by this decision of the government.”

“Bengaluru faces a lot of traffic congestion and is a major cause of suffering for motorists every day. The government has installed CCTV cameras spending hundreds of crores of rupees not to manage traffic but to collect fines. It seems as though, the priority of the police department is to loot motorists,” Sadam added.
“Of the 26,000 crores released for repairing Bengaluru roads and 10,000 crores disbursed for BWSSB, most has been pocketed by politicians, because of which, the two-wheelers and motorists face a lot of problems. The government comes up with bad rules such as this one to further worsen the situation of the motorists. They are just playing with our lives. Mr. CM, BS Bommai should immediately take back the decision and stop harassing the public at the earliest. Aam Aadmi Party will have to protest against this inhuman policy alongside motorists,” Sadam concluded.
