Chennai, Oct 18; In a lengthy report that criticises at least one senior government official and VK Sasikala, the close assistant of the politician who lived with her, a retired judge ruled that J Jayalalithaa’s death in 2016 after being admitted to a prestigious Chennai hospital warrants investigation.
When Jayalalithaa’s party, AIADMK, ruled Tamil Nadu in 2017, a comission led by former judge of Madras High Court, A Arumughaswamy, was formed to sort through legal claims, conflicting of Jayalalithaa’s illness and treatment at Apollo Hospital, and conspiracy theories.
The report of Arumughaswamy panel stated that they inferred that Sasikala is guilty.
The panel recommended that an investigation be carried out against her, Dr Sivakumar (Jayalalithaa’s physician and Sasikala’s relative), former health secretary Radhakrishnan and former health minister C Vijayabaskar, a News 18 report stated.
The commission submitted its findings in the report to Chief Minister MK Stalin two days ago and it was tabled before the state assembly on October 18, Tuesday.

Reports in local media stated that the panel found Sasikala allegedly kept Jayalalithaa’s treatment a secret and that she prevented her from getting an angioplasty.
The further stated that Sasikala’s niece, Krishnapriya, said that the relationship between her aunt and Jayalalithaa was strained since 2012. Thus raising brows on her involvement in her death.
