New delhi, October 15 : BJP top leadership has sought explanation from West Delhi MP Parvesh Verma over his remarks on “Total Boycott” of “These people”. Though Parvesh has never mentioned which community he was referring, BJP leadership has felt that his comments have rendered negative feedback across media and other parts of the country.
Addressing a ‘Virat Hindu Sabha’ organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s local unit and other Hindu organisations in the capital last week, Verma had called for a “total boycott” of “these people”. Party sources said the BJP’s national leadership did not appreciate his remarks. Although Verma did not name any community, the “message that went off was wrong”, sources said. “Party president (JP) Nadda ji has asked for an explanation,” said a party leader.
Denying the developments, Parvesh Verma said that he has not received any notice from anyone.
After Noopur Sharma’s incident, BJP top brass had clearly ordered its spokespersons to refrain from ‘Hindu-Muslim’ comments. Any comments which could be interpretated as divisive must not be made by any BJP leader, the directive had said. Even the party leadership has decided not to send its emissary to any Hindu-Muslim TV debates.
