Uttara Kannada, Oct 5: The Central Bureau of Investigation have submitted it’s report to the Honnavar Court in connection with the Paresh Mesta murder case. CBI has clearly mentioned that, Paresh Mesta’s death was an accident, not an murder. The court has reviewed the report and reserved the judgement for November 16.
On December 6, 2017, Paramesh Mesta, a fisherman from Honnavar, went missing in the riots in Honnavar. Further, on December 8, the dead body was found in the Shatti lake behind Shani Devasthanam in Honnavara city. This created a tense atmosphere in the town.
An allegation was heard that Mesta was killed on December 11. Bandh was called by pro-Hindu organizations in Karwar, Honnavara, Kumta, Mundagoda. The protest of pro-Hindu organizations in Kumta turned violent. The IGP’s car was set on fire. Stones were pelted at the police. Police were injured, vehicles were damaged.

The case took a political form and the leaders of the BJP cadre took to the streets and the BJP accused the then Congress government. Paresh Mesta was killed. It demanded that the case should be investigated by the NIA. The Governor was also complained about this.
The investigation into Paresh Mesta’s death will be entrusted to the CBI, said the then Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy. This decision was not taken after giving in to the struggle of the opposition parties. The minister clarified that this decision was taken on the insistence of the parents. Five people were arrested in the case. The CBI has submitted its investigation report to the court after investigating for four and a half years.
