Bengaluru, May 31 2025— In a significant move to increase transparency and operational efficiency, Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) has undertaken a major digital initiative: a Map View feature for ongoing underground (UG) cable works for internal technical use, the app was launched by Energy Minister K.J. George.
The app was launched in the presence of Energy Department Additional Chief Secretary Gaurav Gupta, KPTCL Managing Director Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Director Projects Manjunath and Anil Kumar D’Souza Superintending Engineer, Information Technology and other officials from the KPTCL.
The Map View feature, integrated into a Geographic Information System (GIS) platform, displays real-time updates on UG cable excavation works across Karnataka. This initiative, which involves the public, aims to keep citizens informed about ongoing projects and associated traffic disruptions. By being involved, the public can better plan their activities and reduce inconvenience. This proactive approach is expected to minimize public inconvenience and foster community engagement.
These digital tools, developed with the latest GIS technology, represent a leap forward in our commitment to transparency, public convenience, and technical excellence. By leveraging GIS technology, we are not only improving internal efficiency but also ensuring that citizens stay informed and safe, Energy minister KJ George said.
These advancements are part of KPTCL’s broader strategy to modernize Karnataka’s power transmission network and improve service delivery through cutting-edge technology.
