Newdelhi, June 05: BJP has suspended its two spokespersons over derogatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad. Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal are the suspended spokespersons.
BJP’s Central disciplinary committee member secretary Om Pathak has written a letter to both of them. “You have expressed views which are contrary to the Party’s position. I have been directed to convey to you that pending further inquiry, you are suspended from the party and from your responsibilities,” said Om Pathak in the letter addressed to Nupur.
Earlier today, BJP had released a press statement regarding party’s stand on the issue. It said that, BJP respects all religions and “strongly against any ideology which insults or demeans any sect or religion.” Mumbai police have filed an FIR against Nupur Sharma following a complaint lodged by Irfan Shaikh, joint secretary of the Mumbai wing of Raza Academy. In the complaint it is alleged that, Nupur Sharma has used abusive and wrong comments about Prophet.

However, Nupur Sharma has denied the allegations levelled against her and defended herself. According to party sources, BJP top brass are highly unhappy with Nupur Sharma. They are upset and disappointed over her remarks on Prophet.
