Gujrat, June 02: Gujarat’s Patidar community leader Hardik Patel who quit Congress has made his joining BJP official.
“I am about to start a new chapter with feelings of national interest, regional interest, and social interest. I will work as a small soldier in the massive work in national service under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Hardik tweeted on Thursday morning.
Confirming the developments Gujarat media convenor Yagnesh Dave said that, Hardik and his followers will join BJP at the party’s state headquarters Shree Kamalam.
Though BJP’s high command is welcoming Hardik Patel, the same cannot be expected from other leaders. As Hardik’s behavior towards BJP was highly unpleasant in the past many are not very keen to induct him into the party. This may lead to divisive politics in the party which is not at all a good sign for BJP when the elections are around.

Hardik Patel entered mainstream politics after his mammoth agitation against the BJP government back in 2015. Then Gujarat CM Anandiben Patel was forced to tender her resignation. Once a fierce critic of the BJP recently started praising the party’s leadership over the abrogation of article 370 and the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Following the Patidar agitation, Hardik joined Congress in 2019. Soon he was appointed as working president of Gujarat PCC. On May 18 he resigned from Congress quoting that its the “most casteist” and “anti-Gujarati” political party.
