Bengaluru: The budget presented by CM Siddaramaiah proves our allegation that the Congress Govt has no money for development and capital expenditure. Let me give you an example. The budget speech says Rs.400 crore will be allocated for construction of new medical colleges and purchase of equipment. This is inadequate and unrealistic.
During BJP govt, in four years we built four new medical colleges in four districts at Chikkaballapura, Haveri, Yadgir and Chikkamagaluru. Is it possible to build even one medical college in 400 crores? This shows that the budget is full of hollow claims and bogus promises which lacks adequate budgetary support.
BJP govt established 438 Namma Clinics in urban centres across the state to ensure affordable and accessible univeral primary healthcare. We had planned upgradation of 250 PHCs across the state. The budget has completely ignored both Namma Clinics and upgradation of PHCs.
BJP govt had started the first state-owned human milk bank at Vani Vilas hospital. It is a welcome move that the budget has announced setting-up of three more human milk banks at Raichur, Bellary and Mysore. However there is no allocation for the establishment of new mother and child hospitals. The budget has also completely ignored Mental Healthcare and has not mentioned anything about taking further BJP govt’s succesful and popular mental initiatives such as Brain Health Clinics, e-Manas etc.
Central Govt in its budget had announced vaccination against cervical cancer for girls aged between 9 to 14. However it is disappointing the state budget has not mentioned anything about supporting this vaccination drive.
