Bengaluru, ug. 18: The Department of Housing decided to submit a proposal to the state government to provide free shelter to the poor by paying the entire amount of housing schemes.
Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan, who made the proposal at the Karnataka Slum Development Board’s governing council meeting on Friday, said that if the government pays the remaining amount except for subsidy and gives houses without taking any amount from the beneficiaries, it would benefit the poor. ” We will prepare a proposal in this regard and send it to the government,” he said.
Implementation of housing schemes is becoming difficult without the beneficiaries paying contributions. So, instead of constructing 10,000 houses, the target of building 5,000 houses is completed. It was resolved to appeal to the government to think in this regard. However, this scheme does not apply to existing schemes. The beneficiaries would have to pay their contribution, he said.
.
The minister said It was decided in the meeting that if the housing complexes are to be constructed and reconstructed under various schemes including Vambe and HUDCO, the groundbreaking function should be performed only after the beneficiaries have agreed to contribute their share and paid it.

.
Zameer Ahmed Khan insisted that a meeting should be held under the leadership of the local MLA and the beneficiaries should be handed over and allowed to be paid in installments if they want to pay the contribution. But if the beneficiaries failed to make their share of the contribution, the old residential complex should not be demolished under any circumstances, the minister said

Housing Department Principal Secretary Naveen Raj Singh, Housing Board Commissioner Kavitha Mannickeri, Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation Managing Director Susheelamma, Slum Development Board Commissioner Venkatesh, chief Engineer Balaraju and others were present.
