CM stays true to words: Woman gets house in 4 months

Bengaluru, Jan. 16: Kamalavva Thimmanagoudar, an elderly woman living in Manchanakoppa village in Shiggavi, the home constituency of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, was rendered homeless due to heavy rains four months. But a phone call to CM Bommai changed her life as the district administration handed over the keys of a newly built house on the occasion of Sankranti, on Saturday.

Bommai, who had taken part in a television programme to hear to woes of the public and issued on-the-spot directions to officials to redress the problems, was emotional when Kamalavva came on the line. “I have nobody. Both my sons have died. Is it possible to get me a house built?”, the elderly woman had asked the CM. She got the assurance of getting a house soon, as the CM instructed the district administration officials to end the woman’s plight.

On Sankranthi, four months after Kamalavva made the appeal to the CM, the district administration handed over the keys of the newly built house, making it a special day in Kamalavva’s life.

This was possible due to the commitment of the district administration. Assistant Commissioner of Savanur, Annapurna Mudukamma, who handed over the house built by Habitat Centre.
