Bengaluru, May 20: Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Saturday took oath as Karnataka Chief Minister at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru today. DK Shivakumar has also sworn in as Karnataka’s deputy CM.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath of office and secrecy to both leaders at the swearing-in ceremony.

Dr G Parameshwara, KH Muniyappa, KJ George, and MB Patil also took oath as cabinet ministers in the newly-elected Karnataka Government.

Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar on Friday met senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi to discuss all possible names to be inducted into the cabinet and formally invite the Congress high command for the swearing-in ceremony on Saturday.

The visit came a day after the meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) on Thursday formally elected Siddaramaiah as its leader, after which he went to the Governor’s office which invited him to form the next government of Karnataka.

After Congress’s victory, many things were written as to how Congress won this election, different analyses were done but I want to say that Congress won because we stood with the poor, Dalits, and Adivasis, backwards. We had truth, poor people. BJP had money, police and everything but the people of Karnataka defeated all their powers: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi
