Bengaluru, May 19: Congress Vice President Prof Radhakrishna has asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “is not invincible”
In an exclusive chat with The Newz Peg here on Friday, Prof Radhakrishna said the Congress party in Karnataka has proved and demonstrated that Modi and BJP can be electorally defeated with “right strategy, united approach, clarity; vision and pro-people policies”
“People voted overwhelmingly for Congress’ human and humane approach towards people’s problems. BJP was absolutely anti-people, inhuman and cruel towards people’s burning issues,” Prof Radhakrishna explained.
Prof Radhakrishna, who was the Vice Chairman of the party manifesto drafting committee, said the “meaningful and concrete” programmes announced by the Congress caught the imagination of the people.
“Modi campaigned in the lanes and bylanes of Bangalore. People asked about the rise in the prices of essential commodities. He had no answer,” the Congress leader said.
According to Prof Radhakrishna, the BJP never had any genuine concern towards the weaker section of society, working class, agricultural labour and minorities.
“All these yojanas are all elitist. It doesn’t help the ordinary farmers and poor people. It has been proved beyond doubt that it is only the Congress that can protect the interests of the poor, the weaker and down-trodden section of the society,” Prof Radhakrishna explained.
He reiterated that Modi and BJP are not invincible.
“Modi and BJP can be defeated in the elections. Congress has demonstrated this. All that we need to do is to evolve right strategy and place ourselves in proper perspective before the people during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections,” Prof Radhakrishna added.
He expressed hope and confidence that the Karnataka will lead the course of political events in the country in throwing up a viable and national alternative to BJP and Modi in the next coming months.
