Hosapete, May 19: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today said the State government wasn’t just celebrating two years in office but was paying back to the people by distributing more than a lakh land records to the people.
Speaking to reporters after inspecting preparations for the event organised here to celebrate second anniversary of the state government and distribute land records, the DCM, who is also the KPCC President, said, “Our government is rewriting history by doing what could not be achieved in 100 years. The Bhu Guarantee scheme of the Revenue department is historic. Everyone wants clear documents for the land they are living on and this scheme will ensure that.”
“The BJP had organised a similar event in Kalaburgi spending Rs 20 crores but dropped the idea as it did not know how to execute it. The team led by Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda has found a permanent solution to this problem. The government will acquire lands up to 4,000 square feet on which homes are built, create ownership documents under the tahsildar of the taluk and hand over the property to the end users with a sale deed. The property will be given to the people free of cost. Currently, documents for 1,11,111 properties are ready. Sale of such properties is prohibited for a period of 15 years.”
“We have made Vijyanagara district as ‘podi-free’ by issuing podis to 79,000 farmers. This is a model for the country. This is not a celebration but a programme to repay the debts of people who supported us. We are not doing politics of emotion but we are building livelihoods for people,” he added.
Indira Gandhi statue unveiling
“AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, AICC General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala are arriving for the programme. All our ministers and MLAs are attending the event. The CM has personally invited the Opposition leaders. Indira Gandhi had delivered a speech in this land and in memory of that we will be unveiling a statue here,” he noted.
