Mysuru: In light of the recent stampede at the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed all necessary security measures to be implemented. “The Prime Minister has issued clear instructions to the Uttar Pradesh government regarding this matter,” said Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.
During his visit to Mysuru for the Suttur Jatra Mahotsava, the Union Minister addressed the media and responded to their queries.
“This incident has caused pain to everyone. Today is considered an auspicious day in our Hindu faith, and people believe that taking a holy dip at Kumbh Mela is beneficial. That is why there was an unprecedented turnout. The government had taken all possible precautions. As soon as the news of the incident reached him, PM Modi spoke to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. He has instructed Yogi Adityanath to implement large-scale security measures,” Kumaraswamy said.
“The arrangements at Kumbh Mela have been exceptional, and the public has appreciated the efforts. However, the massive crowd led to the situation. On Mauni Amavasya, a large number of devotees traditionally take the holy dip. The Kumbh Mela Committee had already advised devotees to plan accordingly, but despite this, the overwhelming turnout led to the unfortunate incident,” the minister expressed.
“If You Face Any Issues, Contact My Office”
A large number of Kannadigas have participated in the Kumbh Mela. Addressing their concerns, Kumaraswamy assured, “If any Kannadiga is facing difficulties, they can reach out to my ministry in Delhi. We will provide the necessary assistance.”
“I have already instructed my officials to assist anyone in need. I once again appeal through the media—if anyone requires help, do not hesitate to contact us,” he reiterated.
“Congress Culture on Display Again”; Kumaraswamy Slams Kharge’s Remarks
Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy strongly condemned Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent comments criticizing the religious rituals of Kumbh Mela. “This is the typical Congress mindset. They can never respect our traditions, beliefs, and rituals,” he said.
“For the Congress, criticism is their only job. The remarks made by their national president are inappropriate. Congress has never believed in our religious practices, which is why they make such statements,” he said, dismissing Kharge’s criticism.
He further pointed out Congress’s contradictions: “Recently, in Belagavi, the Congress organized a major event chanting ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Ambedkar, Jai Samvidhan.’ They held grand programs in Gandhi Ji’s name. But now, they make such statements. If they truly believed in Gandhi Ji’s principles, such remarks would never have come from them,” he added in disappointment.
Former minister Sa. Ra. Mahesh, MLA G.D. Harish Gowda, MLC K.N. Manjegowda, and former legislators Ashwin Kumar, Dr. Annadani, and former Mayor Ravi Kumar were present alongside the minister.
